The language dropdown is the setting that changes your results the most. Pick it deliberately, every session.

What Pendict supports

17 languages, plus auto-detect: English, Romanian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.

When to pick a specific language

Almost always. If everyone in the recording speaks one language, select it. The model then starts from the right vocabulary and sounds instead of guessing, and accuracy is noticeably better than with a wrong or missing choice. Choosing the wrong language reduces accuracy significantly, so check the dropdown before you click start.

When auto-detect makes sense

  • You do not know the language of the video or speaker in advance.
  • You are testing a source for the first time and want to see what comes out.

Once you know the language, switch to it for the real session.

Mixed-language audio

If a speaker switches languages, select the language that is spoken most. Short phrases in another language may come out wrong, and that is normal. For long stretches in two languages, run separate sessions.

Getting cleaner text in any language

  • One speaker at a time beats overlapping voices.
  • Quiet background beats noisy background. With a microphone, use headphones so your speakers do not feed back into it.
  • Make sure the audio you share is actually the audio you want. See how to share tab audio.
