The problem with monthly transcription plans
Most transcription apps want a monthly plan, an account and often a bot that joins your meeting. That makes sense if you transcribe every day. It makes little sense if you need a transcript for one important call, one exam course or a single interview.
The simple way: transcribe the browser tab
If your Zoom call runs in the browser (Zoom web client), or you join Google Meet or Teams in a tab, Pendict can listen to that tab directly. No bot joins the call, nobody is notified by the tool, and you install nothing.
- Open the meeting in Chrome, Edge, Arc or Brave on a computer.
- Open Pendict in a second tab and choose the language.
- Click start, choose the meeting tab, and tick Share tab audio.
- The text appears live while people speak. When the call ends, download it as
.txtor.docx.
Stuck on the share dialog? See how to share tab audio correctly.
Using the Zoom desktop app
The Zoom desktop app is not a browser tab, so tab sharing cannot reach it. Two easy options: join the same meeting from the browser instead, or play the meeting through a browser-based platform. Many people simply use "Join from your browser" on the Zoom invite page.
What it costs
You get two free demo sessions of two minutes each to check the quality. After that, a session costs a flat €5 and lasts up to 4 hours. No subscription, no account, nothing renews.
Be considerate
Recording or transcribing other people can be regulated where you live. Tell participants you are transcribing, especially in work or legal settings.
