Speak, and your phone writes
Dictate turns your voice into text in the browser. It works on phones and tablets as well as computers, so you can use it for quick notes, messages, ideas or a long monologue.
How to use it
- Open pendict.com/dictate in your browser.
- Choose your language, or auto-detect.
- Allow microphone access when your browser asks.
- Speak normally. Text appears while you talk.
- Copy it, or download it as
.txtor.docx.
Better results
- Hold the phone about a hand's width from your mouth, or use headphones with a microphone.
- Speak in full sentences and pause between thoughts.
- Use a quiet place. Fans and street noise cause mistakes.
- Say the language you picked; mixed languages work best with auto-detect.
Who it suits
Writers who think better out loud, students recording ideas, people who find typing slow or painful, and anyone who wants a transcript of a spoken conversation by placing a phone on the table.
