Why built-in captions are not always enough
Google Meet has its own captions, but they depend on the languages your account supports, they disappear when the call ends, and they are hard to copy as one document. If you need the whole text afterwards, or you need a language Meet handles poorly, a separate live transcript helps.
Get a live transcript of a Meet call
- Join the Meet in Chrome, Edge, Arc or Brave on a computer.
- Open Pendict in another tab.
- Pick the language being spoken. If people switch languages, use auto-detect.
- Start, choose the Meet tab and tick Share tab audio.
Text appears within a few seconds of each sentence. Keep the Meet tab open; you can work in other windows meanwhile.
Languages
Pendict supports 17 languages plus auto-detect: English, Romanian, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
Tips for a clean transcript
- Choose the language manually when one language is spoken the whole time; it is more accurate than auto-detect.
- Ask people to mute when not speaking; background noise creates wrong words.
- Do not play other audio in the same tab.
