Get the words from any video

YouTube's automatic captions are not always available and not always good. If you want the words from a video, a live stream or any web video, you can transcribe the tab while it plays.

Steps

  1. Open the video in Chrome, Edge, Arc or Brave.
  2. Open Pendict in another tab and pick the spoken language.
  3. Start, choose the video tab, and tick Share tab audio.
  4. Play the video once "Ready" appears. Text follows live; download it at the end.

Speed it up?

Transcription happens in real time as the audio plays, so a one-hour video takes about an hour. A session lasts up to 4 hours, so you can transcribe long talks and podcasts in one go.

What people use it for

  • Quoting accurately from interviews and talks.
  • Study material from recorded lessons.
  • Turning a video into a blog post or summary with an AI assistant.
  • Searching a long video for the moment a topic was mentioned.

Respect the creator

Use transcripts for personal study, accessibility and research. Do not republish someone else's content as your own.
