The short answer

Pendict is a live transcription tool that works inside your browser. There is no bot that joins the call, no app to install, no file to upload and no account to create. You open the page, share the tab that is playing audio, and words appear as they are spoken.

How most meeting-transcription tools work

Popular AI note-takers such as Otter, Fireflies and Fathom are built around the same ideas. Exact features and prices change, so check each provider, but in general:

  • A notetaker joins the meeting as a participant, or a desktop app records your computer's audio.
  • You sign up and connect your calendar or meeting accounts.
  • They are built for ongoing use: monthly plans, stored transcripts, team libraries, summaries and integrations.
  • Others transcribe files: you record first, upload the file, then wait. Whisper-based tools are an example.

What you get with Pendict

  • Direct tab audio capture. The browser hands Pendict the audio of the tab you choose. That is why it works on Zoom in the browser, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, webinars, YouTube, online courses and any other site.
  • Several tabs at once. Run separate sessions for separate tabs. See how.
  • Silent operation. The audio is captured before it reaches your speakers, so you can mute your device or lower the volume.
  • 17 languages plus auto-detect.
  • Downloads as .txt or .docx, plus copy to clipboard.
  • Microphone mode (Dictate) that works on phones and tablets.
  • Live chat support that reaches the team directly. More here.
  • No stored recordings. You get your text; there is no library to manage.

What Pendict does not do

To be fair: Pendict does not label individual speakers, write AI summaries, integrate with your calendar or keep a team library. If you need those every day, a dedicated note-taker may suit you better. If you want a quick, private transcript with no setup, Pendict is built for exactly that. Many people use both: Pendict for the text, an AI assistant for the summary (prompts here).
